Salta Province

Salta is a province whose capital city is called Salta. It has an area of 155,488 km ² accounting for 5.59% of the territory of Argentina.

Salta has three distinct physiographic units, west of the Andes: Puna, comprising plateaus occupied by salt and the foothills of the Cordillera Oriental, with streams of over 6000 meters high; saws Subandinas at the foot of the Andes, at altitudes of between 2000 and 2500 meters of gentle relief and separated by wide valleys and, finally, the Chaco plains, flat lands formed by recent sediments. The climate is subtropical dry mountainous areas and more rain in the eastern half Chaco. Agricultural regions are the Valley of Lerma (snuff, vegetables, fruits, maize, fodder) and the eastern slopes of the Sierras (cane sugar). In the Puna and Chaco, the poor and depopulated, many sheep and goat rearing. Natural gas fields, borates, sulfur, uranium, iron ore, lead, copper and coal.
