Rioja is a province whose capital city of Argentina is called Rioja. It has an area of 89,680 km ² accounting for 3.22% of the territory of Argentina.
Bordered on the north by the province of Catamarca, in the East with that of Cordova, south to San Luis and San Juan to the West and the republic of Chile.
In the province there are 3 regions: the Andes (the colt, 5830 meters high, the Bonete, altitude 6872 meters), the ridge to the east is the account of Aimogasta, and further south, the creek de los Sauces, where the city of La Rioja. Al Sur de Velasco, eventually stretching the Plains and the height decreases to the enormous Salinas Grandes (117 m), standing out only small hills (Malanzán, Chepes).
The poor hydrographical system has led to the formation of salt, such as Antigua, masks and Salinas Grandes. The climate is arid, with summer rains, and temperatures are high.
