Originally, the Incas are a small tribal groups that have bitaban on Lake Titicaca. In all possibility, and according to tradition in times of formal empire, the migration of Ayar (four brothers and four sisters) Pacaritambo from a place called the Valley of Cuzco to be the original group incaico.

As is clear from studies, the Ayar brothers were founders of Ayllus. These people from the area of hills, speak the Aymara language, and to locate in the area of Cuzco, in the first half of the thirteenth century (an interpretation places c. 1100), would have found people speaking quechua , hence, probably, that the old division of the city Hanan Cuzco and Hurin Cuzco applicable to this ethnic and linguistic difference between the old settlers and newcomers, who provided the early imperial dynasties.

The rule created by the Incas, the only American precolombiana, stretched from north to south along over 4,800 km and approximately 950,000 km2.

The diversity of ethnicities and its extension were not major obstacles to their organization, on the contrary, and unlike the Aztec empire, which he used force, the Inca established a political identity in language, religion and government. Of the people under the incaización was carried out through his instruction at the school of the nobles of Cuzco, educating people on religion and language of the state and, finally, the mitimaes, which consisted of a deportation people elsewhere in the empire, by canceling their exile, while granting social benefits to the natives of the place chosen.
