Biogeography and Climatology in the Andes Climate

There is a proper climate Andean unique living conditions vary from both north to south and from east to west. In the northern Andes, the western sector has a hot and humid and dense forest, while in Venezuela, droughts more pronounced only allows the existence of scrub xerophilous. Up to 900 meters in height dominate the jungle and tropical crops (cocoa), between 900 and 200 meters tall, grown coffee and corn, and above that height, grain. In the central Andes, the aridity is the dominant feature. Llamas, guanacos and vicunas feed on these scarce pastures. The Indians of the valleys making them irrigations continue their pre-Columbian ancestors, growing sugar cane in the lower valleys of the Peruvian and above, maize, wheat and potatoes. His art of land use are revealed in the fitting of the slopes in terraces, particularly in the reliefs built around the Titicaca. The Andes were arid territory of the empire of the Incas. The Spanish conquest and the laws led to a subsequent decline of the civilization of the so-called rural Andean plains.

The eastern slopes of the Andes is more humid. Passing abruptly from high desert to the jungle. In eastern Ecuador and Peru in the forest, evergreen, reaches 3400 meters above sea level. In Bolivia, the rains are less abundant in the lower parts of hillsides. The dissymmetry between the aridity of the Pacific slope can be observed up to the height of the tropics. In the southern Andes, the asymmetry begins to reverse in the southern tip reduces the severity of climate scrub vegetation.
